Two arrested for possession of stolen car

The two men were arrested in Marry Me informal settlement on Monday afternoon following a tip-off to the police.

Two men have been arrested in Soshanguve for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the two were caught in Marry Me informal settlement on Monday afternoon following a tip-off to the police.

“Credit should also go to the public for acting as the eyes and ears of the police on the ground, and to the police officers who followed up all the leads and tracked the vehicle to a place about 30 kilometres from where it was stolen,” Mavimbela said.

He added that the car, a Honda Ballade was stolen on the corner of Meintjies and Robert Sobukwe streets Sunnyside on Saturday evening.

“Be that as it may, our investigators are working hard to try and determine who stole the vehicle,” said Mavimbela.

The men, aged between 34 and 36 years, were charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and are expected in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court soon.
