Teacher suspended over sex charge
“The educator has been placed on precautionary suspension and is now reporting at the district office to allow the investigation to proceed.”

A Pretoria teacher accused of sexual misconduct has been suspended by the Gauteng department of education.
The department said in a statement it was deeply concerned about the allegations against the man who might face criminal charges.
He is accused of having touched a teenaged boy inappropriately.
Education spokesperson Oupa Bodibe strongly condemned the alleged conduct of the teacher.
“The educator has been placed on precautionary suspension and is now reporting at the district office to allow the investigation to proceed.”
The matter was being investigated by the district dispute management unit.
“The department has never hesitated to act where allegations of sexual offences have proven to be true,” Bodibe said.
“We encourage learners never to listen to anybody who tells them not to tell, for fear of victimisation.”
Bodibe said learners should report such matters to their parents, police or any other trusted figure of authority.
Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango confirmed that a sexual assault charge against the teacher was being investigated.
“A warning statement was obtained from the teacher and the matter was forwarded to the senior public prosecutor for a decision,” said Msimango.
He said no arrests had been made so far.
Pretoria psychologist Antoinette Human laid a charge of sexual assault against the teacher.
She said she did so after discovering that he had touched the learner inappropriately.
This apparently happened more than once.
Human, an educational psychologist, was treating the boy after his mother found out that he had been secretly cutting himself.
