Three arrested for stolen car
It was reported that the car had been stolen after the owner passed out as a result of a spiked drink given to him by a woman who had asked him for a lift
Three men were arrested on Tuesday afternoon for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the men were caught trying to speed away from security officers in Pretoria Moot after a burglary.
“The men, aged 24, 28 and 30, reportedly broke into a house, where an LED TV, tablet and a cellphone were stolen,” said Mavimbela.

He said the Sunnyside police were notified of the chase by security officials and the men were cornered near the Union Buildings.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the car in which the suspects were driving, a white Chevrolet Cruze, was reported stolen in Sunnyside in August,” said Mavimbela.

It was reported that the car had been stolen after the owner passed out as a result of a spiked drink given to him by a woman who had asked him for a lift.
“The following morning he woke up in an unfamiliar location next to a street vendor who was selling sweets.”
The men were charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, theft and housebreaking.
They will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.

Mavimbela urged people to be aware and not to accept drinks from strangers.
He advised partygoers and pub patrons never to leave their drink unattended as this made them susceptible.
