A man was shot and killed in his home in Villieria on Thursday morning.
Kilnerpark Security spokesperson Ancelize van der Kooi said they received an emergency call from the victim’s neighbour around 02:27.
“When our security officers got to the scene, on Beyers Street, neighbors told them their neighbour, Casper Venter (51), had been shot,” said Van der Kooi.
Moot police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said Venter’s body was found in the lounge.
Advanced Paramedic Assist (APA), Kilnerpark Security, Moot police, Trauma Troops and Life Med were all on the scene.

Life Med spokesperson Renata Erasmus said: “Upon arrival, our paramedics found a middle aged man had sustained a single gunshot wound.”
Breedt said Venter was declared dead on the scene.

The motive behind the shooting is not clear, said Van der Kooi.
A family friend told Rekord Venter owned Clutch and Brake workshop in the Moot.
