Two-year-old shot in attempted hijacking
The boy was shot in the head and airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.
A two-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot in the head in an attempted hijacking in Centurion.
Just before midnight as people were celebrating the end of 2016, the young boy was rushed to hospital.
At 22:50 Saturday Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the shooting incident in Centurion.
“Reports from the scene indicate that the two-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to the head,” read a Netcare 911 statement.

“The mother drove on to seek help and only stopped when she found an ambulance on the road.”
Exact detail to the shooting will form part of a police investigation.
Paramedics from various ambulance services worked fervently to stabilise the critically wounded child at the scene.
He was airlifted in the Netcare One medical helicopter to a nearby hospital.
