60 new constables put to work

Sixty newly trained constables were welcomed to the Tshwane West police cluster on Friday.
During a welcoming ceremony held for the members, Tshwane West cluster commander Major-General Daniel Mthombeni said the newly trained constables would enhance and improve service delivery within the cluster.

“They are operationally ready to create a safe and secure environment for all the people in South Africa,” said Mthombeni.
A safety Air to Ground operation was also held as part of the ceremony in order to create high police visibility within the Olievenhoutbosch policing area.
The newly trained constables were deployed in various crime hotspots.

During the operation:
– Two illegal liquor outlets were closed down
– 15 people were arrested for crimes including possession of drugs, public drinking and being in the country illegally
– 16 taxis were confiscated by the Gauteng traffic and Tshwane metro police
– 175 vehicles were searched
– 525 people were searched
– 8 second-hand goods fines were issued
– A gambling machine was confiscated
– 234 560 litres of alcohol was confiscated
