Bogus cops operating on freeway off-ramps
The bogus cops pulled him out of his car and forced him into their car.
A 47-year-old man from Centurion was held captive at gunpoint by bogus cops last week Saturday.
According to a description from the victim, these bogus cops were dressed in Special Forces police gear and bullet proof vests.
He said the bogus cops were driving behind him in a white BMW with a blue light on the dashboard.
“I was on my way home from work when they pulled me over around 18:50 in the evening.”
He said the bogus cops pulled him out of his car and forced him into their car.
“They were four armed men. Two of them got into my car and drove behind the BMW where I was held captive and at gunpoint in the backseat by another.”
He said after driving for about 10km, they stopped at a smallholding in the Rietvlei area.
“They were only looking for cash. When they discovered I didn’t have any, they let me go.”
He said they locked him in his car and threw his keys, cellphone and wallet in the bushes at the smallholding.
“I still haven’t found my wallet, but I was able to find my keys and my phone.”
The distraught man said he filed a complaint with the Lyttelton police.
He further mentioned that he saw the same car some days later, still driving with a blue light on its dashboard.
A provincial spokesperson for the Gauteng police, Captain Mavela Masondo said they were working with the Tshwane metro police and the flying squad to apprehend bogus cops that were operating on the freeway off-ramps.
“The police are on high alert and we have received information about the white BMW as well as a white Golf pulling over motorists,” Masondo said.
He said they are hoping to arrest the bogus cops soon.
