Car thief caught in the act
“The owner had parked there minutes earlier to deliver takeaway to one of the houses.”
A man was arrested after he was caught stealing a car in Waterkloof Ridge on Wednesday afternoon.
Hi Risk security spokesperson Arthur Crewe said the man was arrested in Cliff Avenue around 13:00.
Crewe said a officer, responding to a call from a client, surprised two men trying to break into a Toyota.
“One of the men fled on foot and the other got into a silver Polo and sped off.”
The car was quickly cut off and the driver apprehended while the other man escaped.
“The men were attempting to steal a Toyota parked in the street.”

“We later discovered that the owner had parked there minutes earlier to deliver takeaway to one of the houses.”
He said the two men must have seen it as an opportunity to steal the car.
“It was a resident close to the scene who pressed a panic button alerting Hi Risk after seeing the men acting suspiciously,” Crewe said.

The man was handed over to the Brooklyn police station.
