Three linked to jewellery heist nabbed

The Police Provincial Task Team have arrested three more men following a jewellery heist in the east of Pretoria two weeks ago.
Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller confirmed on Thursday the men were arrested in Johannesburg on 10 January.
He said the men were linked to a robbery at Deonne Le Roux jewellery store in Woodlands Boulevard on 9 January.
Six men have been arrested regarding the robbery, but no jewellery has been recovered.

Police earlier reported five men were involved in the jewellery heist and a shootout with police.
Three men, travelling in a black Mercedes, were arrested on the corner of De Villebois Mareuil and Hesketh drives after they crashed into another motorist in an attempt to evade police.
The other motorist, travelling in a black Polo, escaped with minor injuries.
The other two men, travelling in a white BMW, fled.
A day after the heist, Garsfontein police Captain Ilze Jones said the witness’ statement confirmed the men had three plastic bags with them.
“One of the bags was used to put the guns inside. The other two were used to carry the jewellery out of the store.”
An AK-47 and 9mm pistol and a sealed plastic bag, which was later found to contain clothing, were found inside the Mercedes-Benz.

“No jewellery was found inside the car,” Jones said.
The value of the stolen jewellery would not be disclosed.
