UPDATE: Woman arrested for husband’s brutal murder
The woman turned herself in to the police after being on the run for a few days.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in Hammanskraal for allegedly killing her husband.
Police spokesperson Captain Kay Mahubele said the woman turned herself in after being on the run for a few days.
The woman, reportedly assisted by her boyfriend, allegedly killed her 61-year-old husband Shirly Lekalakala and buried him at an open veld in Bosplaas, Hammanskraal.
“A witness who was with the duo came to the police and confessed that he knew what had happened to Lekalakala,” said Makhubele.

He told police that Lekalakala was killed and his body wrapped up in a blanket.
“The suspects then spent two nights digging a hole to bury him in the bush,” he said.
The woman had been on the run for about two weeks before she handed herself over to the Temba police yesterday afternoon – just hours after her husband’s body was exhumed by police in the bush in Bosplaas.

Lekalakala, a government employee who was set to retire this year, was killed on 30 December 2016 at his house in Ramotse section.
He was reported missing at Temba police station on 16 January this year.
Makhubele said the witness was cooperating with the police and had told them he only took part in the concealment of the body.
It is believed Lekalakala and his wife had just got married after she had worked for him as a housekeeper following the death of his wife in 2014.
Police are searching for the boyfriend who allegedly assisted the arrested woman.
