NEWSFLASH: Joost van der Westhuizen’s funeral

The funeral of the former Springbok captain, Joost van der Westhuizen is taking place at the Lewende Woord Church in Brummeria on Friday 10 February.

Family and friends of the late Springbok legend, Joost van der Westhuizen all gathered at the Lewende Woord chruch in Brummeria, Pretoria, on Friday morning to attend his private funeral.

The former Springbok Captain died on Monday, 6 February after a long battle with motor neuron disease.

Friends of the late Joost arrived on their motorbikes, dressed in their rugby shirts and created a drive-though in Brummeria Road with their motorbikes to the church driveway.

Delegates from various rugby unions were also seen making their way to the church as well as former Springbok lock, Kobus Wiese, former prop Toks van der Linde, current SA rugby coach, Alistair Coetzee and local soap star Johan Scholtz were also spotted.

The world rugby president,  landed in SA on Thursday, ahead of the funeral.
