Sutherland high school learner Daniel Skews excelled in the Gauteng provincial track championships for cycling.

The championships took place from 4 to 5 March.

Skews won a gold medal for individual sprints and the 1 500m and a bronze medal for Individual Pursuit as well as the Time Trial.

He was also recently invited to take part in the Africa continental championships where he competed against countries like the Seychelles, Morocco and Egypt.

Although the competition was tough he kept focused and brought home a gold medal for the Team Sprint; bronze for the Team Pursuit and achieved fourth place in the Time Trial.
