A 29-year-old man was arrested in the CBD on Tuesday for failure to provide the record of ownership of secondhand goods.
According to Central police spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola, the police were on an anti-crime operation.
“We arrested a secondhand [goods] dealer for the violation of the Second Hand Goods Act,” he said.
The law requires that a secondhand goods dealer keep the name, address and ID number of the previous owner of the goods.

Lamola urged secondhand dealers to adhere to the rules and regulations or face the full might of the law.
Forty lawbreakers were nabbed at the weekend for various crimes including malicious damage to property, robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, theft, possession of drugs and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“All the arrested people are expected to appear before court soon,” said Lamola.
