The Tshwane West policing cluster arrested 492 people for various crimes this past week.
Police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said arrests were made for rape, murder, theft of motor vehicles, business robberies and theft out of motor vehicles.
“Some of the detained suspects have already appeared in the various Magistrate’s Courts in Pretoria and the others are due to appear soon,” said Zwane.
The Tshwane west policing cluster consists of Atteridgeville, Hercules, Laudium, Olivenhoutbosch, Pretoria Central, Pretoria West, Erasmia, Wiedabrug and Wonderboompoort police stations.
Zwane said the police were also investigating a case of rape, which was reported at the Atteridgeville police station last Thursday.
He said a 58-year-old woman apparently made her way to her home in Manyorela Street last Monday around 21:00 after consuming too much alcohol.
“When she woke up the following day she realised her night dress had been torn.”

“The complainant was later taken to a medical practitioner who confirmed the complainant had been penetrated.”
Zwane said the police were investigating and no arrests had yet been made.
He urged anyone with more information to contact the Atteridgeville police station on 012-373-2400 or the crime stop line on 08600-10111.
