Three people were arrested for possession of dagga in Hatfield at the weekend.
Brooklyn police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said the trio was arrested with 4kg of dagga.
“During the early hours of Saturday morning, police officers spotted a parked vehicle in Burnett Street in Hatfield,” said Weilbach.
“They stopped to investigate and spotted a ziplock bag with dagga.”
Weilbach said the driver and his passengers were then asked to get out of the vehicle.
“When police searched the vehicle, smaller bags with dagga were found on the back seat.”

“Inside the boot, two travel bags were found with 12 arms of dagga weighing 4kg. Small empty bags that are used for packaging were also found,” said Weilbach.
She said the value of the dagga was undisclosed but the three were immediately arrested for dealing in dagga.
“The suspects, aged between 26 and 54, from Mamelodi and Groblersdal, appeared in the Hatfield Community Court on Monday.”
Brooklyn police station commander Brigadier Kushie Nair applauded the officers who diligently continue to arrest perpetrators of drug-related crimes.
“Over the weekend, 28 arrests were made in the Brooklyn policing precinct for offences such as driving under the influence of liquor, drinking in public, assault, possession of stolen motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen goods,” said Weilbach.
Residents were urged to report any suspicious persons and vehicles, especially ones without number plates, to the police immediately by phoning the 10111 emergency number.
