Police are yet to make an arrest after a man was burnt alive by a mob in Atteridgeville.
Spokesperson Captain Thomas Mufamadi said on Monday that mob justice was becoming a problem in Atteridgeville.
“We urge and appeal to the members of the public not to take the law into their own hands. They need to report any illegal activity to the police at all times,” said Mufamadi.
“If they don’t get any satisfaction from station management, they need to escalate their concerns to the cluster commander.”

The 22-year-old man was found burning at the Phomolong taxi rank in Maunde Street last week Sunday.
“A community member told police that the man was a victim of mob justice. It is believed that he was burnt alive by an angry mob,” Mufamadi said.
“When police arrived at the scene, they found the man still burning and managed to extinguish the fire before taking him to Kalafong hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.”
Mufamadi said the motive for the attack was unknown.
Recently two men, including an 18-year-old, were burnt to death during another mob justice action in Atteridgeville.
