An Atteridgeville man accused of hijacking a deputy minister was charged on Monday.
The 26-year-old Motsau Motsepe appeared in the Pretoria Regional Court where he was charged with hijacking.
He along with three other men allegedly kidnapped and hijacked the deputy minister of justice and correctional services Thabang Makwetla two weeks ago.
Police minister Fikile Mbaulula confirmed that all four were arrested.
It was later discovered that one of the men (Motsepe) was linked to the robbery of ant-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee.

On Friday, Abramjee confirmed that Motsepe was part of a gang that robbed his Erasmia home four years ago.
“He was released on bail in February this year after being arrested for the 2013 robbery at my Erasmia home. The trial is still ongoing,” he said.
Makwetla was hijacked and abducted in Johannesburg two weeks after visiting a patient at a medical facility.
He was bundled into his car together with security guards from the hospital.
They were later dumped near Brits where the robbers stole the deputy minister’s money and bank cards, Mbalula confirmed.

Three of the four men were arrested in Pretoria and are currently out on bail.
