Police are hunting for four men who fired 48 shots at a security response officer during a business robbery in Lotus Gardens on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the security officer survived with only one bullet wound and was in a stable condition in hospital.
This shooting happened in the early hours at Shell Garage Lotus Express Shop.
“Four armed men driving a white Honda Ballade stopped at the garage as if they wanted to fill-up patrol.
Seconds later, three of them all jumped out of the vehicle and pointed firearms at the petrol attendant, who ran inside the garage,” she said.

Selepe said the men were armed with two rifles and a pistol.
“The suspect bombed a drop safe three times however, it did not open and no cash was taken from the safe.”
Selepe said a the security officer was shot and wounded by the robbers as he was responding to an alert on the robbery.
“Suspects fled the scene with some cigarettes and an undisclosed amount from the tills.”
Selepe said the NTP security vehicle driven by the wounded officer was riddled with at least 48 bullet holes.
“In a video footage suspects are seen storming inside Shell Garage, wearing balaclavas and armed with rifles and pistol.
We urge members of the public with information that could assist in apprehending the suspects to contact 08600 10111 or to contact their nearest police station,” she said.
NTP Security spokesperson Clint Kzweedy said the armed robbery took place at a Shell garage in Anthesis Road around 01:00.
“The men fled the scene in the Honda when our officer called for help on the radio.”

An eyewitness, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he was on his way to the Shell garage when he heard the gunshots.
“When I heard the gunshots, I immediately turned around and headed for another garage,” the eyewitness said.
“As I drove past the scene I saw the suspects shooting at the NTP security officer.
