Hunt on for three Centurion Lodge burglars

The 30-year-old man was shot and wounded during the robbery.

The hunt is on for three men linked to the Riverplace Lodge robbery in Centurion on Thursday morning

One of the perpetrators, a 30-year-old man, was shot and wounded in a shootout with security firm Red Robot security who reacted to the burglary.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said four men allegedly broke into Riverplace Lodge near Hennopsriver, around 04:30 and stole a plasma screen TV and four bottles of wine.

He said when Red Robot security reacted to the burglary, a shootout had ensued.

The 30-year-old man was shot and wounded in the upper body. His three accomplices fled according to Moloto.

The wounded man remained in hospital under police guard and would appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court as soon as he was fit to do so.

The police were investigating a business burglary case.
