Two men arrested in Hammanskraal for suspected stock theft were denied bail by the Moretele Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said the two men, 23 and 39, were denied bail after police established that they had lied about their real names.
“Their bail application was set aside after it was established that they had given police false names,” said Moremi.

He said after arrest, the men were fingerprinted and this picked up different names.
“They will remain in custody until their next appearance on 29 June 29,” he said.
They were arrested on 18 May when they were found in possession of suspected stolen goats in a bushveld near Babelegi Industries in Temba.
The police said they were on a routine patrol when they spotted three men each carrying a goat on their shoulder.
“The three men looked suspicious. Our members stopped them for questioning,” said Moremi.
“One suspect dropped a goat and fled into the bush. The other two tried to flee but the police managed to arrest them.”
The two men told the police that they found the goats in the bush and saw an opportunity to make money by selling them.
“One of the suspects told the police that he knew the owner of the goats,” said Moremi.
Police managed to get hold of the owner who identified the goats as his.

Recently, three men, aged between 21 and 37 years, were arrested when they were found in possession of eight suspected stolen goats in Soshanguve.
