People turned up in anger at the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court on Friday over the killing of a woman.
They fiercely opposed the notion of bail for Phinius Mampane (35) charged with stabbing his ex-girlfriend Lindiwe Eva Sangweni (35) to death.

Residents were outside the court where Mampane made his first appearance, chanting and singing struggle songs.
Several held up placards, demanding that bail for Mampane be refused.
Other posters called for an end to women an children abuse.
They demanded justice and vowed to follow the trial until justice was done.
Police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso said Mampane was arrested by residents who handed him to the police last Wednesday
The police were investigating a murder.
Mampane allegedly followed the woman sister to her place in Mamelodi West and used a knife to kill her.
Locals heard a noise coming from the room and went to investigate.
They apparently found Mampane man removing the intestines of the woman.
The murder was allegedly committed in full view of her four-year-old daughter.
Mampane and his victim were no longer a couple and she had had obtained a protection order against him.

Sangweni was buried at the weekend in Heatherly Cemetery in Nellmapius.
Gogo Dlovana, of ANC Women’s League said: “This is a serious matter and we think it is about time the trial starts.
“The court should not grant the suspect bail and justice must prevail.”
The matter was postponed to 21 June when Mampane will apply for bail.
Residents meanwhile vowed to draw up and sign a petition against him being granted bail.
