Pretoria man ‘loses second car to sex workers’
The car worth about R180 000, had been gifted to his girlfriend by her father.
A man has allegedly lost his car after a good time with the ladies of the night in Sunnyside.
Spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the man had picked up two women, believed to be sex workers, on Friday morning on the corner of Hamilton and Stanza Bopape Street.
“The man told the police he had thereafter parked at a nearby McDonald’s for drinks with his ‘new friends’.
The man believed he passed out and when he came to, he was in an unknown location in Mamelodi, his car and possessions missing.”
Mavimbela said the man reported the car stolen, a Toyota Yaris worth about R180 000, which had been a gift to his girlfriend by her father.
Mavimbela said it seemed the victim had lost his own car, a VW Polo Vivo, previously under similar circumstances in June 2015.
“It was reported the man had previously also picked up two unknown ladies in Pretoria Central,” said Mavimbela.
“The man said he felt dizzy and stopped on the side of the road. One of the two ladies jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away, leaving the victim to lick his wounds at that spot.”
The man believed his drink had been spiked on both occasions.

No arrest has been made yet but the Sunnyside had major success recently.
Mavimbela said 130 people had been arrested for various crimes including robbery, malicious damage to property, possession of drugs and attempted murder.
He said the arrests were a result of hard work by the police keeping the crime-infested neighbourhoods crime free.
“But the lust for the ladies of the night continues to undermine that effort,” he said.
