Four arrested for attempted robbery in Pretoria West

Four people were arrested on Tuesday, when they tried to rob a business in Lotus Plaza, Lotus Gardens.
Police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said a docket of conspiracy to commit business robbery and attempted business robbery was opened.
“The Tshwane West Trio task team members were following a lead on several suspects planning to rob a business in the area,” said Zwane.

He said the team followed two vehicles, a black Mercedes-Benz with registration number JHT 829 GP and a dark silver VW Passat with registration number CR 04 RJ GP.
“It’s alleged the suspects were targeting a PEP store in Lotus Plaza, and had planned to rob them of a consignment of cellphones that had just been delivered a few minutes earlier.”
He said the police arrested the robbers just after they had entered the store.
Zwane said one of the men, waiting in a black Mercedes-Benz, escaped when he saw the police approach.
“The driver of the VW Passat was apprehended.”
Zwane said a pistol and eight rounds of live ammunition was found among the clothes inside the store.
“No items were taken from the shop and no injuries were sustained at the scene.”
Zwane said all those arrested would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
