A notorious crime spot in Centurion is soon to be lit up.
The End street low water bridge in Lyttelton will then no longer be shrouded in darkness at night.
Ward 66 councillor Ina Strijdom has been fighting since the beginning of the year for the installation of lights in the area.
“Clamping down on the smash-and- grabbers has been one of my missions,” she said this week.

“At last I got the high mast light I have been fighting for.”
She said the 30m high mast light was tested with a generator power before being installed to see if all the globes were working.
“I trust Centurion residents will be happy with this upgrade to the Clubview area,” she said.
In the recent streetlight project, the Valhalla neighbourhood was also lit up, as the Tshwane metro approved three new streetlight projects.

There would be 75 new streetlights installed, in a project that would see 13 unemployed people, and a community liaison officer, get jobs under the extended public works programme in ward 66.
Strijdom said she was delighted about these new projects that would light up dark streets in her ward.
The second project was completion of the Snake Valley road up to the N14 crossover. This road received a total of 30 new street lights.
The street lights were installed from the traffic circle in Selborn and Trichardt roads up to the N14.
