
Thirty people were arrested for drug possession in the Pretoria CBD at the weekend.
Pretoria Central police media liaison officer Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola said the arrests were made during a joint operation by the Pretoria Central sector policing, the crime prevention unit and the detective unit.

“Members of these divisions were deployed within the city to prevent and investigate crime as their primary work to make the environment safe and secured for all the people within the city during and after long weekend,” said Lamola.
He said two men between the ages of 25 and 27 years were arrested for malicious damage to property at the Steve Biko academic hospital on Saturday.
“According to the information available at this stage it is alleged that two unknown men broke a glass door at Steve Biko hospital following an argument with the security officers.”
