The trial of the Mamelodi man charged with the rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman has been postponed to 18 July.
The court postponed the case to hear the evidence of two forensic scientists from Silverton who are supposed to clarity DNA evidence and explain the laboratory’s grading.
Argument was supposed to start on 5 June in the Pretoria High Court, and to be finalised on 9 June but the accused Daniel Ntokozo Masango’s lawyer said he was not satisfied with the forensic results and asked for a postponement.

Masango was arrested on 4 May 2015 after being linked to the kidnapping, rape and murder of Katlego Ndlovu, of Mamelodi, through DNA results.
Ndlovu’s body was found near the reservoir in Mamelodi East on 1 September 2014, and the discovery of two more bodies of women in the same month had sparked fears that a serial killer was on the loose.
One body was found behind a filling station in Mamelodi East and another in a dumpster in Extension 6.
The trial is being attended by scores of residents, including the ANC Women’s League members.
Ndlovu’s mother, Eunice said she was not worried about the delays as long as justice prevailed for her daughter.

She said her daughter was brutally murdered therefore the court should get all the information necessary, “no matter how long it takes”.
She told Rekord her daughter was a loving person who was working while studying theology at Unisa.
