A 26-year-old ex-convict has appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court 12th times in 10 years.
Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said it appeared ex-convicts and parolees were hell-bent on undermining the rule of law in the area.
Mavimbela said the man was involved in numerous crimes.
“Over the past 12 years the suspect was caught for offences ranging from drug abuse, theft, burglary, and robbery.”
He was convicted on at least four occasions.
The man appeared this year with a 22-year-old co-accused on a count of robbery and the matter was postponed to 26 June.

“They are expected to apply for bail, a move that the local police intend to oppose.”
The two were arrested in Sunnyside shortly after they had allegedly robbed a man of his jacket, cellphone and cash.
“At the time of the alleged robbery on Sunday, the victim had been clubbing at one of the local taverns with four other men.”
Mavimbela said: “Besides having items stolen, the victim was reportedly assaulted and was found bleeding from the nose and mouth.
“Initial reports suggest that the ex-convict has other three pending cases to his name – two robberies and theft,” said Mavimbela.
A 39-year-old convict (parolee) also appeared in Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on charges of robbery.
He was arrested on Friday after robbing a woman of a cellphone in Sunnyside.

“The local police are mindful of the fact that the daily influx of people into Sunnyside also attracts criminals into the area,” said Mavimbela.
