Capital Park CPF is to step up efforts to create awareness of crime-prevention in the Moot.
CPF spokesperson Laura Tait said that they would host an awareness day at the Capital Park community centre in Myburgh Street on Saturday, from 08:00.
“Residents are faced with crime on a daily basis. We want to create awareness among residents to know what to do and what to expect,” she said.

Tait said that the Wonderboompoort SAPS and the Tshwane metro police had been invited.
“Residents need to be aware of what is going on around them and they need to know what to look out for,” she said.
“We will also have an informative session with slide shows.”
Tait said residents should be aware that they were not immune to crime.
“When parking your vehicle remove all valuables (cellphone, laptop, wallet and clothing) and don’t leave anything that may draw the attention of criminals,” she said.
“Always be alert and report any suspicious vehicles or persons. When leaving your home make sure all windows and doors are locked. Place valuables away from windows (criminals use objects to pull valuables through a window to steal it).”

Tait said residents should pack away garden tools or remove loose objects that can be stolen or used to break into the house from the garden.
“In public keep your handbag close to your body and carry your wallet somewhere not visible – not in your back pocket,” she said.
“Do not put your handbag on the counter and walk or turn away, and do not leave handbags or other possessions in a supermarket trolley.
She advised residents to stay away from deserted or dark areas.
