Police have launched a manhunt after the decomposed body of an elderly woman was found in a bush in Ga-Rankuwa.
Police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi said an inquest has been opened after the body of Rachel Nozikha Sindane (60) was discovered on 20 June next to her wheelchair.
“No arrest has been made. The police continue to investigate,” he said.

Nkoadi said there were signs that there had been a struggle at the scene where the body was found but not injuries had been seen on her body due to its state decomposition.
The double amputee had been missing from her home in Ga-Rankuwa Zone 21 from 15 May, and was reported missing by her son, Jimmy, on 1 June at the Ga-Rankuwa police station.
“A search was conducted since day one‚ combing most of the bushes next to where she stayed. On Tuesday‚ a passerby noticed a decomposed body of a woman and alerted our members‚” he said.
“The post-mortem will obviously be conducted to determine the real cause of death.

A case of inquest has been opened for further investigation and to determine the real identity as well‚ which will also run forensic tests on the wheelchair that was found next to the body‚” he said.
