Police are still searching for missing businessman, after finding his burnt-out car

Police at the scene, examining the burnt-out car of a missing Pretoria man, this afternoon said they were still searching for signs of a body.

Police confirmed the car belonged to businessman Omar Carrim (76) who went missing after leaving his shop Home Hyper in Pretorius Street in Laudium, on Thursday night.

Captain kay Makhubele told Rekord from the scene in the Schurweberg mountains, east of Pretoria, “The body is still missing.

“There was no body in the car.”

The Carrim family have told the press that he was travelling towards Laudium and they think he was intercepted.

Police located the burnt-out car on Thursday afternoon.

Makhubele said, “We are investigating a kidnapping case as well as a hijacking.

“The car was being driven by a man that was reported missing, Omar Carrim.

“We are still searching for Mr Carrim.”

Carrim’s family could not be reached.
