A man was arrested after he shot dead a woman in Sunnyside, Pretoria, on Sunday.
Police said the 30-year-old man was cornered after the killing early in the morning.
“It is reported that the suspect had left a night club in the company of a male friend and two women before the quartet boarded a Mercedes Benz Viano driven by the male friend,” the police said in a statement.

“Reports suggest that… the victim found her way into the vehicle. This led to an argument because the deceased was reportedly not welcomed by the other occupants of the vehicle.”
Police said it was believed the culprit then pulled a handgun and shot the woman. She died from a shot in the head and the shooter fled the scene.
“With the police hot on his trail and after raid after raid conducted at several places… the suspect had no option but to hand himself over at the Sunnyside police station,” police said.

“The alleged murder weapon, a handgun with a filed off serial number, and ammunition were seized during the arrest.”
Police said the man would be charged with murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He was expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.

“The local police have been hard at work, ensuring that perpetrators of priority and violent crimes are put behind bars,” police said.
