His case was postponed to 29 August for further investigation.

Ngoasheng is accused of allegedly gunning down Sophie Thapi Ledwaba (26) outside a nightclub in Sunnyside.

“It is reported the suspect left a night club in the company of a male friend and two women before the quartet boarded a Mercedes-Benz Viano driven by the male friend,” said Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela.

According to reports, Ledwaba also tried to get into the car.

“This led to an argument because the deceased was reportedly not welcomed by the other occupants of the vehicle.”

Mavimbela said it was believed the culprit then pulled out a handgun and shot Ledwaba in the head.

He then ran away.

“With the police hot on his trail and after raid after raid at several places, the suspect had no option but to hand himself over at the Sunnyside police station.”

The nightclub has issued two statements, firstly denying allegations the shooting occurred near their premises and secondly offering condolences to Ledwaba’s family.

“Following an incident of shooting of a lady at Gerhard Moerdyk Street on Saturday or in the early hours of the morning, we understand the perpetrator has been arrested,” reads the statement.

“We are saddened by what has happened and hereby sympathise with the family and friends of the deceased.”
