A distressed elderly man from Centurion claims to have been a target of corruption at Wierdabrug police station in Centurion.
Karl Krenn (67) said things went awry when he started selling wood on municipal grounds in Centurion.
Krenn said he obtained a permit from the Tshwane metro to use the open space legally.
He said another man who also sold wood opposite his stand started harassing him and assaulted his employees.
“They used words of a defamatory nature, trying to intimidate my employees. One of my employees resigned because she was sexually harassed by them,” said Krenn.
Krenn said the bullies even went so far as to come to his house to trouble him.

He claimed that the Wierdabrug police refused to investigate his complaints of intimidation and harassment.
He said one of the officers asked for bribes.
“I refused to pay him to do his job.”
Krenn said he wanted to show the officer he did not have any money and took out his wallet, unaware that there was a R100 note inside.
“The officer grabbed the note so quickly that I had to take a moment to realise what had happened.”

He said when he spoke to another officer, he was sent away.
Krenn claims an officer at the police station was trying to fabricate cases against him.
He said all of this happened just because he was a legal business owner who refused to pay bribes to officials supposed to do their jobs.
The names of the police officers are known to Rekord and an inquiry has been sent to the Wierdabrug police and the provincial police department for comment.
Wierdabrug police has, in the meantime, confirmed receipt of the inquiry and their response is being awaited.
