The murders and serious assault of cricket coaches in Laudium has left the cricketing community with deep heartache.
The bodies of Given Nkosi (24) and Charlson Maseko (26), both cricket coaches, were found on the bathroom floor at the communal residence, next to the main cricket stadium in Laudium, on Thursday.
KFC mini-cricket coordinator Kagiso Masubelele (27) and Laudium hub head coach and coordinator Obed Harvey Agbomadzie (27) were seriously injured in the attack.
The four coaches shared two rooms at the residence.
Cricket SA chief, Haroon Lorgat, said the organisation heard with “shock and deep sadness” about the killing of two of its coaches and the critical injuries to two others.

“This has come as a huge shock to the entire Cricket SA family,” said Lorgat.
He described the foursome as dedicated cricket administrators and coaches who had been making a huge difference to the communities they operated in.
“They provided an important source of upliftment and hope, particularly to our youth.”
“Indeed, what they have been doing goes far beyond the game of cricket.”
Lorgat, on behalf of the CSA family, extended his deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives.
“We pray that those who are injured will make a quick and complete recovery.”

The Northerns Cricket Union chief Jacques Faul said it was devastating news.
“They have been a highly valued and integral part of our talent pipeline development programme, particularly in the Laudium community,” said Faul.
Police spokesperson, Captain Augustinah Selepe, said the bodies were found by a resident who practices cricket in the mornings.
He informed the security guards who contacted the police around 07:00 on Thursday morning.
“The motive of the murder and assault at this stage is unknown,” said Selepe.
