The Sinoville police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a woman in Bon Accord earlier this year.
The police confirmed the man was arrested on Friday after autopsy results proved what was initially believed to be a suicide, was in fact murder.
The woman’s body was discovered in May with a gunshot wound, and Warrant Officer, Johan van Dyk, said it was suspected then that the woman had committed suicide.
“The scene was cordoned off by constables Thabo Baloyi and Celia Thungwana. Warrant Officer Christo Oelofse was the investigating officer, assisted by Captain Francois Venter,” Van Dyk said.
“But during the investigation, irregularities were found and specialised forensic techniques were used to comb through and process the scene.

Oelofse did a proper investigation and all leads were followed up.
In the end, post-mortem and forensic results proved police suspicions – that foul play was involved – correct.
The man was expected in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Van Dyk praised Venter and warrant officers Andries Breedt and Gerrie Kotze, who made the arrest.
Sinoville police station commander Colonel Maria Roberts congratulated all police officers involved in the investigation.
“Through passion and dedication justice will prevail,” said Roberts.
