The two men arrested in Colesberg at the weekend have familial links with a high ranking Pretoria police officer, media reports suggest.
The two were arrested in a roadblock in the Northern Cape town with wads of cash, believed to be R2 million, stashed in the boot of their white VW Golf.
They were expected in the Colesburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 29 September on a charge of money-laundering.
The duo, Jermaine Johnson (21) and Dearon Noble (18) were believed to have been transporting the cash on behalf of an unidentified Pretoria businessman.

The report indicated one of the arrested men was related to a major-general in the detective services in Pretoria, and was wearing a police-issued tracksuit top at the time of arrest.

However, the police would not confirm the link.
Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the men had not been asked about their familial relations but could “neither confirm nor deny” the link.
The Colesberg SAPS said they were not allowed to give out information.
