Mamelodi motorists are warned to avoid certain areas targeted by hijackers. These hot spots are around Mahube Valley, extensions 5, 6, 11, SnS and 16th section in Mamelodi East.
Motorists are especially cautioned against parking their cars in those areas for long periods of time.

The warning follows several recent carjacking incidents in the area.
Mamelodi East police spokesperson Captain Michael Mbewe said the police were aware of tactics used by criminals and had reallocated resources to Mahube Valley where most of the hijackings had been reported.
The police appeal to residents to assist by reporting any suspicious behaviour to the police on 08600-10111 or 012-815-7080.
