
Some residents of Hammanskraal will wake up to dry taps on Wednesday morning due to a planned shutdown of the water treatment plant.
Tshwane metro said the Temba water treatment plant will be closed for upgrades.
“On 4 and 5 October from 08:00, the Temba water treatment plant will be shut down due to the following installation work:
– New pump suction to the Hammanskraal West suction manifold.
– Welding on the new instrument fittings to the existing discharge feed line at the raw water pump station.
– Removing the temporary bypass at the intake.
The metro said the following areas will be affected by water outage:
– Dilopye
– New Eersterust
– Temba
– Babelegi industries

The water treatment plant will provide water to the community at a reduced rate during the period of the shutdown, the metro said.
Roaming water tankers will supply residents with water during that period.
