A yearlong search has ended in tears for the mother of Linda Matati after she identified her daughter in a mortuary in Bronkhorstspruit on Monday.
The deceased, went missing last year after a party in Migson Manor, south of Johannesburg after accepting a lift from an alleged cash-in-transit kingpin, Thabo Happy Mosia.

Matati’s body was found in an open field in Bronkhorstspruit and nobody came forward to claim her body despite repeated police requests through local radio stations for someone to identify her.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said Matati was reported missing in February and Mosia was arrested in March after he was identified as the last person to be seen with the deceased.
Makhubela said when Mosia was arrested it was found that he had links to various cash-in-transit heists in Johannesburg and Germiston.
Makhubela further said Mosia’s DNA had been found on Matati’s body.
Mosia was denied bail by Magistrate Maggie van der Merwe, following his court appearance in March and the trial starts on 13 October in the Johannesburg High court.
