Three men accused of assaulting a couple at a Montana KFC outlet earlier this year have been granted bail.
On Tuesday, they successfully appealed against an August ruling of the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court that denied them bail.
The High Court in Pretoria overturned the magistrate’s court’s decision and Stephan Nel, DJ van Rooyen and Joshua Schultz were released on bail of R5 000 each.

The three men, along with Ockert Muller and Marius Harding, were accused of attacking a man and his wife in the early hours of 3 August.
They are facing charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing of a firearm.
Muller was released on bail in August while Harding abandoned his bid for bail.
On 30 August, Magistrate Motlhoki Rapulana denied Nel, Van Rooyen and Schultz bail, saying there was a likelihood of them intimidating witnesses.
She also said there would be a public outcry if they were released.
The accused’s lawyers previously argued the men were unfairly defamed by being referred to as a “racist gang” when not all of them had even known each other.
A video showing the alleged attack and another taken by one of the accused, showing a different version of what might have transpired on scene have gone viral on social media.
