A robber shot at but missed a Zwartkop resident who was trying to help his neighbours in Centurion early on Friday.
Police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones said the resident said he heard a commotion outside his home around 06:00 and went out to investigate.

Jones said the resident noticed a silver Volvo sedan in front of his gate.
“Three armed men got out, pointed a firearm at him and forced him back into the house. They tied him and his wife up,” said Jones.
A neighbour heard the commotion and went to investigate.
“He saw the armed men as they left, and they fired at him. The neighbour returned fire.”
Jones said the suspects fled the scene, and no one had been injured though “the victims remain traumatised”.
She said the police were on the lookout for the assailants.
A case of house robbery and attempted murder will be investigated by the Lyttelton police.
