The latest crime statistics released today in Parliament show a significant decline in serious crimes in the Moot.
The number of sexual offences reported in Hercules area dropped by 16.2 percent from 74 to 62 cases.
Ten cases of murder were reported in that area compared to the previous year’s 11.
Ten cases of sexual offences were reported in Eersterust, the same as last year.
Eight people were reported murdered in the area, down from five in the previous year.

In Villieria, murder rates stayed the same with only four cases reported.
In the same area, 582 burglary cases were reported compared to 646 cases reported previously.
In Wonderboompoort, only one murder was reported, down from two the previous year.
Only seven sexual offences were reported, down from 17.
The number of rape cases went down by 72.7 percent, with only three cases reported this year, compared to 11 previously.
In Atteridgeville and Laudium, the rate of murder increased from 53 to 56 cases and from 3 to 9 cases respectively while sexual offences remained unchanged at 117 and 19 cases.
Murder and sexual offences went up in Pretoria West.
Murder shot up by 50 percent, from 18 to 27 cases this year and sexual offences increased from 76 to 82 cases.

Burglary rates went down in the area from 661 to 627.
In Erasmia, the number of reported cases of sexual offences went down from 25 to 14 this year.
The number of murders in this area was higher than last year, from 10 to 29.
