A wide-scale Tshwane North Cluster police anti-crime operation netted 355 suspects at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Mathews Nkoadi said the various police stations that comprised the cluster spearheaded different operations from Friday to Sunday.
“The operations included visiting of problematic hotspots such as Zone 14 in Ga-Rankuwa, Marry Me informal settlement near Akasia and Aubrey Matlala Road in Soshanguve to name a few,” said Nkoadi.
He said the arrests were for, among the other things, rape, car hijacking, possession of drugs, business burglary, contravention of protection order, pointing of firearm, prostitution and being in the country illegally.

“The suspects will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Moretele or Pretoria North Magistrates’ Courts soon, while the illegal immigrants will be deported,” he said.
He said 27 of the suspects were arrested in Ga-Rankuwa.
Nkoadi said the operation in Ga-Rankuwa comprised of stop and searches and roadblocks.
“Suspects were arrested for common assault, malicious damage to property, theft, shoplifting, house breaking and theft, driving without a licence, fraud and contravening the Road Traffic Act.”
Nkoadi said police management called on residents to report any misconduct and any criminal activities by the police.
