VIDEO: Metro announces new end stop for Hammanskraal taxis

"From today, members of the three associations will transport commuters from Hammanskraal to Rainbow Junction Station where commuters will then board A Re Yeng into the CBD.”

Taxis from the Hammanskraal area will no longer drive into the CBD under a deal struck with the metro on Wednesday.

This emerged as the metro officially opened the A Re Yeng bus route from Wonderboom to town.

Roads and transport MMC Sheila Senkubuge said the metro and some taxi associations signed the agreement.

It would see taxis running up until the Wonderboom Areyeng bus station.

The buses would then take commuters from there to the city.

Senkubuge said the Hammanskraal, Stinkwater Eersterust and Ga-Mokone Hammanskraal Stinkwater taxi associations would be compensated for forfeiting the last 10km of their route but didn’t disclose how much.
