NEWSFLASH: Two nabbed for murder in Atteridgeville

The two are accused of assaulting and killing an elderly man.

Two men were arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of an elderly man in Brazzaville, Atteridgeville.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the 63-year-old old man was killed in his home around 11:30 on Monday.

“He was found by a friend who went to visit him. He found the elderly man’s body on the floor and immediately informed the police,” he said.

Moloto said the victim’s house had been ransacked during the attack.

“He sustained bruises on the upper part of the body and was declared dead by paramedics. Police followed up the information about the whereabouts of the suspects, and the two were found and arrested in Brazzaville,” he said.

Moloto said the motive for the killing was unknown.

“A case of murder was opened at Atteridgeville SAPS for further investigation.”

The two men, aged 24 and 27, were expected to appear before court soon, Moloto said.
