Six arrests made in joint operation in Moot

A man was arrested for the possession of drugs and five foreign nationals were detained for being in the country undocumented.

Six people were arrested in the moot recently during a joint operation by the police and a private security company.

The crime operation involved roadblocks in the Gezina and Riviera areas.

Fidelity ADT community development manager Gerrit Rheeder said the operation the operation was successful.

“This was a particularly successful joint operation. We believe that by working closely with the Moot SAPS and other security providers we can show a united force that sends a clear message to criminals that crime will not go unnoticed.”

“After the roadblock, we went to an identified crime hot-spot area – a derelict building on the corner of Soutpansberg- and Hamilton Road. Drugs, to the street value of R3 500, were found and confiscated. We also patrolled other crime hot spots and six arrests were made.”

Rheeder said they would continue to work with police to root out crime in the area.
