Police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said police were unable to make an arrest, but recovered the stolen chickens.
“Unfortunately the suspects fled before they could be apprehended,” said Miller.
Miller said the chickens will be taken back to the hatchery they were stolen from.

Jurie Claassen, the manager of a nearby farm where the chickens were stolen from, said he is grateful for their return.
Claassen said the chickens would need to be kept away from the other fowls to prevent possible spread of diseases.
He said it might be dangerous if the chickens contracted an infection due to the conditions they were kept in by the thieves.
He said the police are currently facing high volumes of live stock being stolen.
“The officers on patrol duty are doing a great job and we can see the results.”
Miller asked the public to be more aware in their immediate environment and should report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
