Three armed men were arrested after a home invasion in Laudium on Wednesday evening.
Captain Augustinah Selepe said the incident happened shortly after 19:00.
She said:”The trio armed with firearms allegedly stormed the house and found a couple inside. They assaulted them and took their cellphones.”

Selepe said the three men were confronted by residents as they attempted to escape.
“Two of the suspects were apprehended and one managed to escape but he was cornered by various police units in Claudius Street, near the R55.

“A police hostage negotiator was called to the scene after the suspect threatened to shoot himself,” Selepe said.
“The suspect was arrested after a few minutes of negotiations and two unlicensed firearms were recovered.
“The assaulted couple were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment,” she said.

Selepe said the suspects would soon appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court.
A case of robbery was opened at the Laudium SAPS and was under investigation.
