A Mamelodi man was found guilty for the kidnapping, rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman – thanks to DNA testing.
Daniel Ntokozo Masango was found guilty for the murder of Katlego Ndlovu in the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday.

Masango was linked to the murder because his DNA samples were already on record after it was taken in connection with a separate rape case.
Ndlovu was murdered on 2 September 2014 and Masango was arrested on 4 May 2015.
Ndlovu’s body was found naked near the reservoir in Mamelodi East after she failed to come home from work.
The discovery of her body sparked fears within the Mamelodi community that it might have been the work of a serial killer because the bodies of two women were found around the area in the same month.
One body was found behind a filling station and another in a dumpster in extension 6.

Community members were involved in the case from the start and even signed a petition to ask the court to deny Masango bail for fear he would be killed by the community.
Ndlovu’s mother Eunice said after the sentencing that Masango’s family threatened her that “they (Masango’s family) will still see to it that her son and daughter are six feet under the ground.”
She was happy that the court finally found Masango guilty and hoped the judge would make an example out of him by sentencing him to life imprisonment.
Eunice told Record that her daughter was a loving person who was working while studying theology at Unisa.
“She did not deserve what happened to her.”
What made it difficult for her was that Masango was a neighbour who lived only a few blocks away.
Sentencing will be on 26 January 2018.
