Pictures of a cat hanging from a tree in Silverton, east of Pretoria, are doing the rounds on social media.
Animal activist Herman le Roux said the cat was found on Thursday afternoon at a house in Jasmyn Street.
He said the house where the cat was found, was empty.
“This is a regular occurrence at this specific house,” he said.
The SPCA and police were on the scene.

“They [SPCA] took the cat for a post-mortem examination,” Le Roux said.
SPCA spokesperson, Elsa Daniels said inspectors were busy with an investigation.
More information about their findings was expected.
The person responsible for the hanging was not yet identified at the time of going to press.
